The West Bank Union at the University of Minnesota was established in 1967 to offer services to students. Matthew B. Moore was born in 1905 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Minnesota in 1929 and 1931, respectively. He joined the faculty at the University in 1929 as an instructor of agricultural botany and assistant in plant pathology. In 1973, Professor Moore retired from the University of Minnesota as professor emeritus of plant pathology.
